Bridges Community Centre, Monmouth, wanted to explore the possibility of running a community arts programme, and secured funding from the Arts Council of Wales for a feasibility study. Anita Holford and arts consultant Angela Tillcock tendered for and won the contract, and developed the research and a business plan. This involved consulting with local groups, potential partners, funders and advocates, and assessing the need, the potential market, and Bridges’ ability to deliver the programme.
Following the end of the project, Anita helped Bridges to develop a trial community arts week for Summer 2004. Once long-term funding is secured, Bridges hopes to establish itself as a venue for workshops and performances, using the arts as a tool for community development.
